Metropolitan Region recorded the day with more rainfall in the last seven years

Since August 2008 did not occur as a day of intense rains. That year fell 78.3 millimeters in 24 hours. At 8 o’clock had already precipitated 75 mm.

It was a complicated day for the authorities, who did not tell how many people were affected. The weather left many flooded streets, caused many car accidents and energy failures.

President Michelle Bachelet said that “although the rain is a good news to alleviate the drought that is affecting us, I know there are many compatriots who have a hard time in these circumstances (…) but we are concerned, and working for the problems They were presented as flooding neighborhoods, flooding homes, closing ports and power outages in some areas of Santiago, a product of wind and falling trees. ”
