Beautiful coral meeting of the REI!

As a start to the celebration of 35th anniversary of our schools, on Wednesday August 26, it was held at the community room the 2015 meeting of choral groups of Ignatian educational network, REI.
More than 170 students from 10 choirs, all belonging to the REI and Fe y Alegria organization, gave life to this meeting, which allowed them to share the commitment to singing and musical expression from diversity and friendship.
It was a very important opportunity to strength ties with the schools of the REI and, above all, a great opportunity to our students to share generously their musical word with singers from other latitudes.
The participating choirs were:
School Multipurpose Don Enrique Alvear
San Ignacio de Loyola School (Valparaiso)
San Ignacio El Bosque School
Private School No. 8 San Ignacio (from Calera)
School Padre Hurtado
Colegio Hogar de Cristo
Mission College
Padre Hurtado Institute

Students Enjoy Final Recesses in the Hub

Students from various grades visited the Hub during the last two weeks. Younger students loved the TV programs and games, and the older students prefered using the computers upstairs to watch various English-language programs of their choice or play a variety of games.  We are looking forward to seeing them again in 2015!

Students play lively games in Hub

Students from various grades have enjoyed some of the fun games the hub has to offer with their English classes. The games ranged from the iconic Monopoly, to the new smash-hit board game Settlers of Catan, to “Salad Bowl”–a fast-paced combination of Catchphrase and Charades. These games provide a great chance for practicing vocabulary and speaking skills, and are also a ton of fun!

Surfing in Chile

By Mara García (9th grade)

Chile has many beaches for surfing. Although the waves in central Chile are bigger, the waves in the north are stronger and are usually better suited for surfing.

Some of the most popular surfing spots in Chile are:

  1. Pichilemu: Located south west of Santiago. The town is the host of the annual national championships.
  2. Arica: Even though there are spots with rocks in the water, the qualification for the national championship takes place there. Waves can get up to 4 meters high.
