Ukrainian President said that 7.000 people have died in the Ukrainian conflict

Petró Poroshenko said in the Parliament that 1.675 Ukrainian soldiers have died for their country and “for their inevitable victory”.

The President blamed the aggressive policy of their neighbor country (referring to Russia).

Petró Poroshenko said everything to the Ukrainian Parliament in a special session for the conmemoration of the 70 years since the end of World War II. Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General, also attended the session and said that the UN suports Ukraine.

The situation in Ukraine has become worse the last days, and the separatist forces accuse Ukrainian soldiers of violating the ceasefire.

Is Vladamir Putin just like… Hercules?

This week, Vladamir Putin celebrated his 62nd birthday. This led his supporters to create an art exhibition that shows Vladamir Putin as Hercules, with images of the Russian leader completing 12 brave tasks, just like the Greek hero. For example, one picture shows Putin battling Western countries like Canada and the United States which are drawn just like the multi-headed monster that Hercules battled.

You can see the pictures from the BBC here. The Russian president promotes a macho image and enjoys a cult of personality that seems very strange in comparison to Western politics. Six years ago he was given a tiger for his birthday. What do you think? Do the pictures make Putin look powerful and impressive, or just silly?
