7th graders from Miss Poli’s class worked all last week to prepare the Hub for a visit from a 2nd grade class for the very first time. They prepared some great games and activities and helped the younger students practice their English. The 2nd graders and 7th graders both had a great time, and both of them had the chance to hear, speak, and read in English in a fun environment.
One group of 7th grade leaders created their own game that combined Headbandz, Pictionary, and Charades.
Another group helped the 2nd graders make their own Christmas Tree ornaments. They had the chance to talk about the colors they wanted to use, and wrote letters to Santa on the back with a little bit of help with new vocabulary and spelling from the older students.
The next group created their own version of Monopoly–it involved rolling the dice, Rock Paper Scissors, and trivia questions, all of which helped the 2nd graders follow instructions and participate in an English immerision setting.
The last group led a very lively pictionary game!
Great job 7th graders, and thank you to all the 2nd graders and teachers who participated in this first-of-its-kind activity!
