Is it really the Everest the highest mountain in the world?

When India was a British colony, a team of surveyors decided to measure up to all the Himalayas.
They were interested particularly one that surpassed all others: the top XV.
They estimated its altitude at 9,000 meters above sea level, which made the highest mountain in the world.
In 1865 they changed the name to Everest, in honor of George Everest, a Welsh expert who was responsible for most of the topography of India.
Since then, many climbers have tried to conquer the summit to show the world that have the highest mountain on the planet foot.
