On October 6th a march will take place in Santiago, pressing the Ministry of Education to discuss free education in our system.
Valentina Saavedra, the president of the Students Federation of the University of Chile, said “the minister doesn’t have clear ideas about the objective of the reform”.
The students hope the decisions that will be made, will be centered on making public education stronger.
The President of the University of Chile Student Federation said that what happened yesterday in the march convened by the Confederation of Chilean Students, “violent situations are always present after the marches, but what happened yesterday is definitely unacceptable” she said to La Tercera.
Valentina Saveedra also said “the students will never support the ones that are looting and burning places”.
After the march there were 172 people arrested and 9 policemen wounded.
