10th graders from Ms. Melo’s class visited the hub to work on writing well-organized paragraphs. They completed a graphic organizer to write a sentence in groups, and then designed their own organizers to match their topics.
Here are some pictures and samples of their excellent work–some chose serious themes, and others are quite funny!
The PSU system, in which Chilean students are selected to enter at different universities according to the scores they get, is a really bad method. In the first place, they determinate every teenager’s future, at a very early age in which is impossible to know what they want to do with their lifes. Secondly, it doesn’t measures all of the habilities people has, such as helping or advicing poeple, or others like running, strenght, dancing or even painting, which may be really important for some persons. Finally, because of the difficult that this test has and the importance the society has given to it, many students get really stressed and freak out at the moment of doing it, that they can’t express all of the knowledge they truly have. Therefore, PSU isn’t a good method to select students and it should be changed.

I hate everyone. The first reason is because they interupt my thoughts, the second one is because they smile a lot, and the third and most important reason is because they don’t respect my personal space. That´s why i love to be alone.

People are too worried about themselves . Lately I’ve been watching how others relate with the ones that are next to them, my conclusion is that we are too concentrated about our own good, so the level of egocetrism is “on top of the world”. We never ask to others how they are doing, if they are having a good time, if they need something or even if they are happy. That’s because we don’t care and we can’t stop looking to our problems and our needs. So we are repeating all day i need, i feel, i want, i, i, i, i, i…. It’s very important to worry about others, to help others and to love others, because that’s what the human being is made of. So, the invitation is to forget the egocetrism, to care about the one that it’s next to me, to help him/her and to make other’s life more enjoyable.

School should let us get exempt from the final tests (ETN) in the case our marks are good enough to do it. In first place, this would be a motivation for students to study all the year, they would try to get better marks with the purpose of being able to finish the year earlier. In second place, students will be more relax and enjoy more the experiences that the school give us at the end of the year such us the final drama play and the diferent music concert. At last, but not least, we can say that ETN aren´t the best evaluation of the things learned in the year, cause if they put all the content toghether in one test the student would try to memorize it and this will be forgotten at the summer holidays. That’s why school should think about their choice of not letting us exempt from exams.
