Have You Ever Wanted to fly?

You will not believe what this guy in Canada has invented! It’s a hoverboard that allows him to fly by steering with only his feet, and using a pair of pliers as the accelerator. He recently set a new world record for the longest flight ever on a hoverboard by traveling almost 1000 feet during the 90 seconds that the batteries last on this current model. With his new company, perhaps you will be able to buy your own in a couple of years. Would you dare to fly?

Two Vampire Crab Species Found, Are Already Popular Pets

 National Geographics said…

“Vampire crabs, so named because of their glowing yellow eyes, have become popular as pets, but the origin of some of these spooky-looking crustaceans has been cloaked in mystery.

Until now.

Now researchers have traced the freshwater crabs back to their wild source in Southeast Asia—and report that the two most sought-after species are new to science.

The newly described species, Geosesarma dennerle and Geosesarma hagen, were found in separate river valleys on the Indonesian island of Java

“These crabs are kind of special because they’ve been around in the pet trade for ten years, but no one knew where they come from,” said study co-author and professional aquarist Christian Lukhaup of Waiblingen, Germany.”

Race the “Tube”

A young man in London named James Heptonstall recorded his attempt to race the subway, which Londoners call the “Tube.” How do you race a subway? He started inside the train, and ran out the moment the doors opened to begin running up the stairs, out of the station, and to the next subway station 380 meters away. The goal was to reach the next station in time to board the same train.

In order to record his attempt, he had a go-pro camera on his head, and left a friend with a video camera on the train to prove he made it onto the same train. In addition to feeling very fast, he can also be proud that his video also went viral, and has over 5 million views!

Read more about his attempt here. The BBC has a cool report about how the video went viral, and copycats tried the same stunt in over 20 cities. What do you think? Would you try this?
